Elon Musk said a few years ago that he works around 100 hours per week. He is rich, he is famous, and he has got a lot that many people dream to have. Did you think that rich people stop working once they hit a certain amount of wealth? Definitely not. Financial freedom is not about not having to work. This is what financial freedom is more about:
1. Having a choice
Financial freedom is less about financials and more about freedom — Manoj Arora
It is known that at a 9 to 5 job, many times you have to do what you don’t really want to. Or that you need to be at work every day even when you don’t feel well and simply want to rest. This kind of work doesn’t give you the ability to always choose on your terms.
On the contrary, financial independence is all about the freedom to choose. To choose if you want to join a meeting, meet certain people, be at a certain place, make a certain deal, and all the other scenarios. Financial freedom gives the luxury of saying “yes” and “no” if and when you need to, instead of having to do so for the sake of not being fired.
2. Being in control of your time
My favorite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resources we all have is time — Steve Jobs
Financial freedom is about being in command of your life and your time. Instead of having to do someone else’s work before your tasks and priorities, with financial freedom, you can go do whatever you really need to do first. You can easily set your priorities and have the luxury of pursuing them all without being interrupted by anyone.
Financial freedom is about spending time with people that will benefit you instead of wasting it with whatever jerk comes your way. Financial freedom means being with the right people at all times.
3. Living life in your own terms
The goal isn’t more money. The goal is living life on your terms — Chris Brogan
Did you ever hear someone telling you that you shouldn’t try something because of this or that? People who are financially free have gone past that long time ago. They live their life in their own way and set their own rules.
Many of them live in unconventional ways, others choose modest lives. They don’t have anyone preaching to them how to live, but they frame their day-to-day life themselves.
4. In control of finances
You do pay a price for your financial freedom, but it is far lesser than what you pay for a lifetime slavery — Manoj Arora
Having financial freedom means being in control of your finances instead of them controlling you. Most of the rich reinvest their money, and they are not afraid of trying new business ventures. That is why the rich keep getting richer.
They are financially safe and they have the luxury of exploring new things without having to worry much about minimal losses.
5. Continuous self-improvement
Wealth is not about having a lot of money; it’s about having a lot of options — Chris Rock
Financially independent people keep getting better and better in their industry because they are able to improve themselves continually.
They are on a journey of continuous self-improvement with personal trainers, coaches, accountants, make-up artists, and whoever they need to raise their game on their field.
This creates a bigger gap between them and their competitors who are not financially free yet and try hard to be in the same position.
6. Excellent networking
Networking is not about just connecting people. It’s about connecting people with people, people with ideas, and people with opportunities — Michele Jennae
Because financially free people are with the right people at all times, they make excellent connections that make their journey much easier. They build a wide network of friends and friends of friends that allows any new business venture to take off quickly and become successful. This translates into a huge competitive advantage to the new people in the industry that simply start from scratch and are trying to make it on the way up.
Financial freedom has nothing to do with not having to work. In fact, financially free people are some that work the hardest who spend hours and hours in the office.
Financial freedom is about having a choice at all times. It is about living life on your own terms, whether others like it or not.
It includes being in control of your life, of your time, and of your finances. Financial independence brings the luxury of working with the best of the best and ranking higher in the industry. It creates the beauty of networking with people from different backgrounds, which you could benefit from to further develop your business or start a new one.
Keep dreaming, keep moving up.
