LIVE market updates: The Indian benchmark indices traded over half a per cent higher in Thursday’s morning deals amid firm global cues after the Federal Reserve projected a rapid jump in US economic growth this year.
The S&P BSE Sensex gained 200 points, or 0.4 per cent, around 50,000 levels and the Nifty50 index hovered above 14,750-mark. Bajaj Finance (up 2%) was the top Sensex gainer, followed by ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Axis Bank rose over 1 per cent, each.
Among other individual stocks, BHEL surged 7 per cent after the firm said it has emerged as the lowest bidder (Rs 10,800 crore) for supply of equipment for 6×700 MW nuclear power projects of Nuclear Power Corporation of India.
All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading largely with gains, led by Nifty Metal index, up 2 per cent.
