LIVE market updates: The Indian benchmark indices dipped over 1.5 per cent in Thursday’s early deals, on the back of subdued global cues. Volatility index, India VIX, meanwhile, shot up 5 per cent to 23.2 levels.
The S&P BSE Sensex traded around 50,580, down 800 points, and the Nifty50 was testing the 15,000-mark it had reclaimed in the previous session. The HDFC twins (HDFC and HDFC Bank) fell 2 per cent, each, and were the top Sensex laggards, followed by Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank, and Bajaj Finserv (each down 2%).
All the Nifty sectoral indices traded in the red, with Nifty Financial Services index, down 2.2 per cent, bleeding the most.
